Taking care of your breasts

Breast anatomy

The human breast consists of fat, connective tissue and glands. Contrary to what many believe, you cannot change the shape of the breast through training. On the other hand, it is possible to strengthen and build up the muscles behind the breast or reduce the size of the bust by burning up fat cells in the breast.

When your breasts change shape

During pregnancy, when breast-feeding or menstruating, the glands in the breast become enlarged and push aside the fatty and connective tissue. This causes the breasts to change shape and become enlarged. When the glands decrease in size once more, the breasts become more flaccid as the fat and connective tissue is unable to regain its original shape.

Why is it important to use a bra?

Not using a bra can cause the fat and connective tissue to stretch due to the weight of the breast. This will eventually cause the breasts to become flaccid and sagging.
